How to Compare Mercedes CLA45 AMG Service Quotes

Compare Mercedes CLA45 AMG service quotes in Dubai using dated VAT-inclusive job ranges, exact parts and labour, brake and DCT scope, and separate diagnostic costs.

By Mercedes Specialist 12 minute read

A useful Mercedes-AMG CLA45 service quote states the work, parts, labour, tax and exclusions for your exact car. MercGarage’s planning figures include AED 1,500–2,000 for a minor service and AED 3,000–3,800 for a major service, both including 5% VAT. Those are different jobs, and neither is an estimate for an unexpected engine repair.

This guide shows how to compare two written Dubai quotations for like-for-like work. It does not set the CLA45 maintenance schedule. For deciding what is actually due, use the CLA45 maintenance guide with the VIN, service display and invoices. Then compare the resulting work list here.

Start with the current VAT-inclusive planning ranges

The figures below are MercGarage’s existing job estimates reviewed on 29 September 2026. They are AED amounts including 5% VAT for the described scope. A workshop must confirm the generation, fitted equipment, parts and final payable quote before work. The UAE Federal Tax Authority identifies the standard VAT rate as 5%.

Job Planning range including VAT Work to compare
Minor service AED 1,500–2,000 Specified engine oil, oil filter and agreed inspection.
Major scheduled service AED 3,000–3,800 Oil and filter, due engine or cabin filters, plugs, brake fluid and extended checks as itemised. Any DCT or driveline work needs an explicit line and may change the total.
Scheduled DCT service AED 1,600–2,200 Applicable fluid, required filters, seals and labour for the fitted gearbox. Clutch or internal repair is excluded.
Front brake pads AED 1,100–1,800 Compatible front pads and fitting for the confirmed brake system. Discs and sensors are separate.
Rear brake pads AED 800–1,300 Compatible rear pads and fitting. Confirm the axle, equipment and brand.
Engine air filter AED 300–600 Compatible filter and fitting with an intact housing.
Vehicle battery AED 800–1,500 Compatible battery and fitting. Further electrical fault investigation is separate.
Initial diagnostic assessment AED 200–350 Fault scan and initial evaluation. Any extended test or repair needs separate approval.

These are separate potential jobs. Do not add minor service to a major service that already includes its oil and filter. Do not add DCT, brakes or a battery unless the applicable service requirement or a finding supports them. Internal engine and suspension repairs need inspection-based estimates, not a fixed price inferred from age.

A DCT quote covering only fluid and labour may be narrower than the scheduled service line with applicable filters, seals and the correct procedure. Ask for those details before comparing it with the table. A service price cannot be turned into a fixed calendar charge or an estimate for a future repair.

Compare the same vehicle and work list

Before collecting prices, give each workshop the same VIN, model year, service message, mileage, original market and recent invoices. State whether you are asking for due maintenance, a wear item or a fault investigation. A quote for an earlier C117 CLA45 is not automatically a match for a later C118 CLA45 or CLA45 S.

Mercedes identifies an earlier seven-speed AMG DCT and the redesigned model’s eight-speed AMG DCT. This distinction matters when a gearbox service line is quoted. The same badge does not establish a fluid product, filter kit, labour operation or final price. Brake equipment can also differ by generation and options.

  • Match identity with the VIN, petrol generation and fitted equipment.
  • Match the task with each due operation and any measured wear or separate complaint.
  • Match inclusions with parts, fluids, quantities, labour and required procedures.
  • Match the total with VAT, diagnostic charges and explicitly excluded work.

If the first estimate says “major service” and the second says “Service B,” ask both providers to itemise the tasks. Package names alone do not tell you if brake fluid, plugs, filters or a DCT operation is included. A lower total can reflect less work rather than a better price for the same work.

Keep the original written estimates. If an inspection changes either quote, ask for the new finding and a revised total before approving extra work. This allows a fair comparison even when the initial appointment reveals a worn disc or a leak that could not be seen beforehand.

Check service packages for hidden overlap and omissions

A minor service generally describes a narrower oil and inspection visit in the figures above. The major-service band describes expanded due engine maintenance. Its exact filter, plug and brake-fluid content must still be written down for the vehicle. If a particular item was recently completed and documented, ask whether it is removed from this quote or whether a different operation is due.

Watch for overlap across line items. An engine air filter may already sit within an itemised major service, while a separate air-filter line might price the same part twice. The oil and filter in a minor service should not be charged again when a major package includes them. A service display reset belongs with properly completed and recorded work, not as a substitute for the work itself.

The same principle applies to DCT work. Some major quotations may include a specified gearbox operation, while others exclude it. Ask for the seven- or eight-speed unit, fluid, filters, seals and labour to be named. If that complete work is included in the major total, do not add the separate DCT range again.

Watch for omissions too. A quote for engine oil and filter only should not be compared with an estimate that also includes specified additional work. Ask whether the cabin filter, brake fluid, plugs, inspection and service-record update are included, excluded or simply not due.

There is no need to buy every listed item because it appears in a price table. The separate maintenance guide explains the due-work decision. This quote guide helps once that work list is known.

Compare parts and approved fluids line by line

For oil service, the estimate should identify the approval for the fitted engine, quantity, filter, seals and labour. “Premium synthetic oil” is not enough detail to establish compatibility. For a DCT service, the gearbox identity and approved fluid, required filters and seals, labour and method matter. A machine flush is not automatically the same operation as a specified drain and refill.

Parts descriptions should be equally clear. Genuine Mercedes-Benz, supplier-branded and aftermarket products can be compared when their part identification, fit, specification, condition and applicable coverage are stated. Neither “OEM” nor “genuine” alone proves that a misfire, brake noise or warning has been diagnosed. A compatible part quoted for a different brake option is still the wrong comparison.

Compare the identified products and labour actually included, rather than a package label.

Ask if seals, one-use fasteners, sensors or programming are included where the operation requires them. Do not assume those extras are always needed. The estimate can list them conditionally with the circumstances under which the total will change.

An itemised invoice after the work should show the products used and the job completed. Keep it with the service booklet. That record helps the next garage determine whether an extra operation is already done and prevents an inaccurate repeat quotation.

Check brake quotations by axle and equipment

A front-pad price cannot be compared with a front pad-and-disc job. Ask for the axle, fitted caliper and disc specification, pad brand, wear sensors and labour. The rear-pad line is a different job and should not be added unless rear wear is measured or a relevant finding supports it.

Mercedes’ later CLA45 launch material describes standard front and rear brakes, and the model’s option information lists a larger brake system on some cars. Confirm the VIN and actual hardware before assuming that an example quotation applies. Do not presume ceramic discs or a single pad part number from the CLA45 badge.

Technician inspecting brake pads and disc beside replacement parts
A pad-only quote and a quote including discs or sensors answer different repair needs.

Ask for the measured pad and disc findings, not a blanket replacement prediction. If the pedal feels abnormal or there is a serious brake warning, follow the vehicle manual and arrange qualified help before a routine service visit. Replacing brake fluid or pads without finding a hydraulic fault would not solve the underlying safety concern.

The final brake quote should show what is known now and what would require fresh approval after disassembly or further inspection. This protects both the owner and technician from pretending that an unseen component has already been measured.

Separate diagnostic assessment from authorised repair work

A warning, rough running, harsh shift or electrical problem should be described as a symptom. The AED 200–350 initial assessment line covers a fault scan and initial evaluation in this page’s planning figures. It does not promise a complete repair diagnosis for every complaint or include unlimited test time. Ask what the initial step will answer and how extended testing is authorised.

A stored code is a clue, not a verdict that a sensor, turbo, DCT or battery must be replaced. A technician may need vehicle-specific tests, measurements and an assessment of related systems. An oil-service reset does not explain every reduced-power event. Keep due maintenance on one line, fault investigation on another and a proposed repair on a third after evidence.

An initial diagnostic fee should state its limit before a repair is proposed.

If you receive a quote to replace a component without an observed reason, ask what test supports it and what remains uncertain. A second estimate may include more diagnostic work while the first simply names a part. Compare the evidence and test plan before comparing those totals.

Some faults require a safely conducted road test, lift inspection or manufacturer-specific procedure by qualified personnel. The owner can provide the dashboard message and the conditions under which the issue appears without attempting hydraulic, transmission or electrical tests at home.

Read VAT, exclusions and approval terms carefully

The table on this page includes 5% VAT. A different workshop may quote before VAT. Convert both to the payable basis before comparing, and check whether the labour, consumables, disposal, diagnostic time and additional parts are in the figure. A dated estimate should specify how long its price and availability are valid.

If one quote offers a service plan, check the actual contract, eligible vehicle, work list, term, exclusions and cancellation conditions. Do not assume that a prepaid package is cheaper than buying only the work due. Likewise, any repair or parts warranty depends on written coverage and exclusions for that specific provider. An age threshold or a vague “extended warranty” promise cannot establish savings.

  • Agree the initial work and the maximum amount authorised before the visit.
  • Request approval again if an inspection finds another item.
  • Check the final total with VAT and any changed parts or labour.
  • Keep the record of findings, invoice, parts and remaining concerns.

Dealership and independent workshop quotes can both be useful. Compare the same operation and evidence, rather than assuming one is always cheaper, uses better parts or guarantees a result. Ask who will perform any work requiring special equipment and whether it is included in the price.

Use a simple method to choose fairly

Write the required task at the top of a comparison sheet. Put each workshop’s parts, fluids, labour, tax, exclusions and completion record underneath. Mark a missing line as unknown and ask a question before deciding. This is more reliable than ranking two totals when one quote has a larger job hidden within it.

For an oil-service comparison, match the approved oil quantity, filter, seals and inspection list. For DCT work, match the fitted seven- or eight-speed unit, fluid, filters, seals and procedure. For brakes, match the axle, measured condition and components. For a warning, compare diagnostic steps before anyone prices an unconfirmed repair.

Only then compare the payable totals, appointment timing and written coverage. A clearer quote can show that an apparently expensive job includes work the cheaper one left out. It can also reveal that an extra operation was already completed and should be removed from both.

Common CLA45 quotation questions for Dubai owners

Do the price ranges include UAE VAT?

Yes. The MercGarage planning ranges on this page include 5% VAT for the stated scope as reviewed on 29 September 2026. Request a current itemised payable total for your car.

Should I add minor and major service prices?

No, not when the major job already includes oil and filter work. Compare the exact due operations and count each one once.

Why can two DCT quotations differ so much?

They may cover different gearboxes or work. Check whether the quote includes the correct fluid, filters, seals, level-setting procedure and labour. A fluid-only starting task is not the full scheduled service.

Are front brake discs included with pads?

Not in the front-pad planning line here. Ask for measured disc and pad condition, the fitted brake equipment, sensors and a separate disc price if discs are needed.

Does a diagnostic fee include the repair?

No. The initial assessment figure covers a scan and evaluation. Extended tests and any repair require a defined finding and separate approval.

Will an independent quote affect my warranty?

Do not rely on a blanket claim. Read the applicable vehicle, service-plan and repair terms, keep a detailed invoice, and ask the provider to identify any specific requirement or exclusion in writing.
