Choose the help you need

A spare, a replacement, or a repair

The best option depends on whether you still have a working key and which functions have failed. Tell us the model and what happened. We will help you choose the right service.

01 · One working key

Add a reliable spare

A second key gives you a backup for everyday use and shared driving. Bring your current key so the new one can be matched and checked alongside it. A spare should start the car independently and operate the agreed remote functions.

You can request a spare before your existing fob becomes worn or unreliable. There is no need to wait until the car is immobilized.

See spare-key pricing
02 · No working key

Replace a lost key

If every key is missing, we assess the key system and arrange a replacement for the vehicle. This takes more work than adding a spare because there is no working key to check against the car.

Let us know where the Mercedes is parked. We can then discuss access, the expected work, and whether help at the vehicle or a workshop visit is needed.

03 · Key still in hand

Check a faulty fob

Worn buttons, a weak battery, a damaged case, and a failed key are different problems. If the car still starts, a remote or casing repair may be more suitable than replacing the complete key.

Bring the faulty fob and any spare you have. Comparing their behavior helps separate a key problem from a fault in the vehicle.

Plan your budget

Mercedes key replacement prices

Typical estimates start at AED 700 for a spare key and AED 1,200 when all keys are lost. Remote-only work can cost less. Your model, key specification, and the work needed determine the final quote.

Spare-key estimate fromAED 700

These are indicative ranges per key or remote job. A genuine key ordered for a particular vehicle, newer security systems, or additional ignition work may fall outside them.

When every key is missing

Get your Mercedes moving again

A lost-key replacement starts with your vehicle, its key system, and your location. We establish which replacement can be supplied and how it must be programmed. Some jobs can be completed within a few hours; a key that needs ordering or a separate vehicle fault takes longer.

For a straightforward supported system, allow an estimated two to four hours for the key work once the required key and vehicle are available. This is workshop time, not a guaranteed arrival or delivery window.

Call with the model and where the car is parked. You do not need to identify the ignition module or find a fault code before speaking to us.

Replacement and vehicle access

Tell us whether the car is locked, whether it is in a basement or restricted parking area, and whether another key is available elsewhere. These details help arrange practical access. The team will explain if the work can be handled at the vehicle or if workshop equipment and recovery are needed.

Keep your Emirates ID or passport and vehicle registration available for the ownership check before key work begins. If the car belongs to a company or another person, tell the team so the appropriate authorization can be arranged. Start the enquiry with the model and your concern; there is no need to upload identity documents through this page.

Deactivating the missing key

We can discuss removing a lost or stolen key’s electronic authorization where supported by the fitted system. This helps prevent that key from being used electronically after the replacement is set up. Bring any keys you want to keep using so their operation can be checked.

The emergency metal blade is a separate matter. Electronic deactivation does not change the mechanical door lock. If the missing blade could still open the car, the team can explain whether a lock change should be included in your quote.

Spend on the right fix

Could your key be repaired?

A replacement fob makes sense when the key is missing or its electronics cannot be repaired reliably. When you still have the key, a few checks can reveal a smaller job.

Explain what works as well as what fails. For example, a key that starts the engine but will not unlock the doors needs a different assessment from a car that rejects both keys.

Weak remote response

If the remote works only close to the car or responds intermittently, we check the fob battery, contacts, and remote operation. A suitable battery replacement may be enough. A battery change does not normally mean the key needs new programming, although a separate fault can still require attention.

Broken case or buttons

A cracked shell or worn button pad can sometimes be replaced while keeping the working electronics. If liquid or impact has damaged the circuit board, we explain whether repair is worthwhile. A replacement shell changes the housing; it does not create a second programmed key.

Key not detected

This warning can involve the fob, interference, the vehicle battery, or the car’s key-recognition system. Comparing a spare and testing the relevant components helps avoid buying a new key for a vehicle-side fault. If the issue extends beyond the fob, our Mercedes electrical repair service covers the wider diagnosis.

Key turns, car will not start

The key, electronic ignition switch, steering lock, and vehicle power supply can affect starting. Replacing a fob will not fix every no-start condition. We separate key work from any necessary ignition-switch repair and explain the extra cost before proceeding.

Match the functions you use

Choosing your replacement key

The case shape is only one part of the choice. Your replacement needs the correct electronics and supported functions for the car. We explain the supplied key and its features in the quote.

Genuine Mercedes-Benz key

A genuine key is a Mercedes-Benz-branded part supplied for the relevant vehicle. Availability, ordering requirements, and the work needed to put it into service vary by model and security generation. If a genuine key is your preference, mention it when requesting the price.

The team will explain whether it can be supplied and the expected lead time. A key that needs ordering should be compared on its complete supplied-and-working cost, rather than the price of an empty fob case.

A compatible alternative

Where a suitable alternative is available, we can discuss its price and supported features. A similar-looking fob does not establish compatibility, and “OEM quality” does not necessarily mean a genuine Mercedes-Benz part. The quote should identify what you are buying.

Remote locking, starting, boot release, and keyless functions should be considered separately. We check the functions agreed for the replacement so you know what to expect when using it every day.

Keep KEYLESS-GO in mind

If you normally unlock the car by touching the door handle or start it with the key in your pocket, tell us. A fob that starts the engine is not automatically a like-for-like replacement for every keyless feature. Digital phone-key services also differ from replacing a physical fob and may require the manufacturer’s account or service process.

For your Mercedes

Model and key compatibility

We handle enquiries for Mercedes sedans, SUVs, coupes, and vans. The model year, production specification, and fitted key system matter more than the badge alone.

For GCC-spec and imported vehicles, the team checks the relevant key specification during the enquiry. You can start with the model and year. A VIN or photo of the existing fob can be requested later when it helps identify the correct part.

Sedans and compacts

A-Class · C-Class · E-Class · S-Class

Earlier ignition-insert keys and later smart-key systems require different replacements. For a spare, bring the working key; for an intermittent fault, describe whether starting, remote locking, or both are affected.

SUVs and performance

GLA · GLK · GLC · GLE · GLS · G-Class · AMG

Keyless entry, boot operation, and the fitted security generation influence the supplied key and price. The same model name can span several systems, so one price or fob type should not be assumed for every year.

Coupes and vans

CLA · SLK · SLC · Vito · V-Class · Sprinter

Tell us whether you need a spare for another driver, a replacement after a loss, or help with an existing key. For a business vehicle, arrange the relevant owner authorization as part of the key-work appointment.

Three example quotations

What different key jobs can cost

These illustrative quotations show how the work changes the budget. They are examples, not completed customer jobs or fixed offers for every vehicle.

Example quotation · Spare key

2012 Mercedes C200

One working key is available and the owner wants a second key for everyday use. The example covers a new compatible fob, the applicable programming labor, and checks that both keys operate the agreed starting and remote functions.

This assumes a supported system and no ignition or steering-lock fault. A genuine key order or additional keyless features may change the total.

Illustrative job estimateAED 800

Example quotation · All keys lost

2011 Mercedes E300

No working key remains. The example allows for a new compatible key, the required programming work, and starting and remote-function checks once vehicle access and ownership are established.

Recovery, mechanical lock replacement, or a separate electronic ignition fault would be additional work. Deactivation of the lost key is discussed for the fitted system.

Illustrative job estimateAED 1,500

Example quotation · Remote repair

2014 Mercedes GLK

The existing key starts the car but its remote buttons fail. This example covers suitable remote-component repair or replacement and function testing while retaining the usable starting authorization.

It assumes the fob can be repaired and the vehicle’s receiver is working. A complete new starting key, a battery-only change, and a casing-only repair have different scopes.

Illustrative job estimateAED 500

Example amounts sit within the general estimated ranges above. Your written quote will confirm the actual parts, labor, VAT treatment, and any extra work for your Mercedes.

From your first call to handover

Arrange your key replacement

For a straightforward spare-key job, estimated working time is around one to two hours once the correct key and vehicle are available. We explain ordering time and any longer diagnosis separately.

01

Tell us what happened

Call or WhatsApp with the Mercedes model and whether a key is lost, damaged, or still working. If the car cannot move, include its location. We will discuss an appointment or the assistance needed at the vehicle.

02

Choose the key and price

We establish the suitable key, the functions you need, and the work required. You receive the quote before work begins. Bring the relevant ownership documents and any existing keys for the appointment.

03

Program and check

The replacement is prepared for the fitted system. We check starting, remote locking, and the other agreed functions. If testing identifies a separate vehicle fault, we explain it and the proposed additional work.

04

Try your key at handover

Try the replacement and retained keys with the team. Confirm which features are included, how to use the emergency blade where supplied, and any care or job-specific warranty terms stated on your invoice.

Useful answers

Mercedes key replacement FAQs

These answers cover the questions that often affect price and booking. For a quote, start with your model and tell us whether any working key remains.

Can you replace a Mercedes key without the original?

Yes, replacement can be arranged for supported systems when all keys are lost. The vehicle’s key system, access, and ownership need to be established first. It usually involves more work than adding a spare, which is why the indicative all-keys-lost range is AED 1,200–1,800.

Can I get my replacement key the same day?

Same-day completion may be possible for a supported system when the correct key and an appointment are available. A straightforward spare takes an estimated one to two hours of key work; all-keys-lost work can take two to four. Ordered keys and separate vehicle faults can extend the time.

Will a replacement key include KEYLESS-GO?

It depends on the replacement supplied and the car’s fitted equipment. Remote locking, starting, and passive keyless entry are separate functions. Tell us if you use KEYLESS-GO so the quote specifies the features you want to retain and the team can check them at handover.

Can I bring a key bought online?

Tell us before purchasing or booking programming for it. A matching case and button layout do not establish that a key has the correct electronics or can be prepared for your car. Used keys may have restrictions. The team can assess the proposed key before you spend further on programming.

Does changing the fob battery need programming?

A routine fob battery replacement does not normally erase the key’s existing authorization. If the key still fails afterward, its contacts, remote operation, and the vehicle may need checking. The correct battery type depends on the fob, so a fresh battery should match its specification.

Can a lost key still unlock my Mercedes?

Electronic deactivation and the emergency metal blade are separate. A disabled key may lose its electronic functions while its blade still fits the mechanical door lock. If a key is lost or stolen, discuss both electronic deactivation and the need for a lock change with the workshop.

What should I bring for key replacement?

Bring your Emirates ID or passport, vehicle registration, and any keys you still have. The team verifies ownership before key work. For a company or someone else’s vehicle, explain this when arranging the appointment so the necessary authorization can be discussed.

Do I need to tow the car?

It depends on the key system, the fault, and access to the vehicle. Tell us where the Mercedes is parked and whether it can start. The team will explain whether assistance at the vehicle is possible or a workshop visit and recovery are needed, including any separate recovery charge.
