Mercedes CLA45 AMG Maintenance Schedule and Costs
Plan petrol CLA45 maintenance by VIN and records. Understand seven- and eight-speed DCT differences, brake equipment, due work and scoped Dubai estimates.
Maintain a petrol Mercedes-AMG CLA45 from the service information for its VIN, market and generation. The earlier C117 uses an AMG seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the later C118 uses an eight-speed DCT. Their engine, driveline and brake specifications cannot be put on one fixed mileage checklist. The service display, dated invoices and actual condition establish what is due next.
This guide helps Dubai owners separate scheduled work from measured wear and symptoms that need diagnosis. The indicative prices below are job estimates, not an annual bill or a replacement schedule. Mercedes has also announced an electric AMG CLA45. That different powertrain is outside this petrol maintenance guide.
Identify the CLA45 generation before planning maintenance
Mercedes described the earlier CLA45’s AMG SPEEDSHIFT seven-speed DCT and the 2019 redesign’s eight-speed DCT with M139 engine. These are dual-clutch transmissions, but the required fluid, filter and service method must be selected for the actual gearbox. Do not use one owner’s interval or a generic gearbox package for both.
The later C118 also has a different rear-drive arrangement. Its service questions should be checked against the fitted equipment rather than copied from a C117 list. A registration date alone may be misleading for an imported car. Confirm the VIN, build details and the maintenance information for the original market.
| Vehicle check | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Earlier petrol C117 CLA45 | Use the seven-speed AMG DCT and engine-specific maintenance information. |
| Later petrol C118 CLA45 or CLA45 S | Use the eight-speed AMG DCT, fitted brake equipment and later driveline information. |
| Original market and VIN | Confirm the service booklet, fluid approvals, parts and any option-dependent operation. |
| Electric AMG CLA45 | Do not apply petrol oil, plug or DCT work to a battery-electric vehicle. |
Mercedes’ 2022 CLA owner manual explains the ASSYST PLUS display for the later car. It is a reminder, not an invoice and not a diagnostic verdict. Ask the workshop to list the operations behind the message for your exact car.

Read the reminder alongside dated service records
Start with the service message, current odometer and last invoice. The reminder may indicate that a visit is due, but it does not prove which additional fluid, filter or spark-plug job was performed previously. A reset after a completed oil service is a recordkeeping step. Omitting the reset alone is not evidence that a car will enter reduced-power mode.
Compare elapsed time and distance with the applicable Mercedes maintenance information. If a scheduled operation has two limits, the one reached first can make it due. Track driving, modifications or uncertain history merit an individual discussion, but neither Dubai heat nor a generic internet table sets a universal shortened interval.
- Document the car with VIN, engine, gearbox, market, date and mileage.
- Read the service message and list each specified operation behind it.
- Check completed work against dated invoices and fluid or part specifications.
- Separate new symptoms from ordinary maintenance before approving repairs.
If history is missing, state what is unknown. A workshop can inspect condition and review vehicle-specific requirements without inventing a past service date. Ask for a written list of confirmed work, work due now and items that still need evidence.
Service labels such as A and B do not replace the itemised operation list. A display can indicate a visit while another time-based item is due, or an additional operation may already be documented on a previous invoice. Ask for each line and its basis before agreeing to a package. If the display and paperwork disagree, keep both pieces of evidence and have the applicable record checked instead of silently resetting the message.
Check oil, filters and ignition by specification
Engine oil service should identify the approval and quantity for the fitted engine, plus the filter, seals and inspection work included. An oil-pressure warning, visible leak or repeated top-up is a fault concern. A routine oil change cannot be sold as a cure before the cause is found.
Dusty Dubai use makes the air filter worth checking. A removed filter’s condition, housing seal and the applicable service requirement are more informative than a claim that fine sand always damages the turbo. A disposable filter should not be washed as a shortcut. Cabin filtration is a separate airflow and comfort item.

Spark plugs belong to the applicable engine’s schedule and the vehicle’s record. A misfire is not proof that plugs are overdue, even if replacement is due soon. A technician may need to inspect ignition, fuel, air-path or electrical evidence. Do not replace coils or plugs solely because a generic mileage milestone was repeated online.
Document what was fitted and the next due condition. This makes the following year’s budget clearer and avoids charging twice for a filter or plug job included in an earlier service.
Choose the correct seven or eight-speed DCT work
Both petrol generations use a dual-clutch transmission, but the earlier AMG seven-speed and later eight-speed units need their own service information. Ask the workshop to identify the gearbox, approved fluid, required filters or seals and the prescribed level-setting method. Do not order a gearbox service from a single rounded mileage rule.
A scheduled drain and refill with the specified components is different from a machine or chemical flush. The quote should say what is included. If a unit has already been serviced, the invoice should identify the operation and product. If the history is missing, a qualified technician can review the VIN-specific requirement and condition before proposing work.
Harsh engagement, hesitation, slipping or a transmission warning is a separate diagnostic complaint. Record when it happens and whether a dashboard message appears. Scan data, supply voltage, fluid level by the correct procedure and other evidence can narrow the cause. A DCT fluid service cannot be promised as a cure for a fault.
Some later cars have additional rear driveline equipment. The presence and service requirements of each unit should be confirmed from the VIN. Do not assume that a generic “gearbox and differential” bundle contains every applicable part, fluid and operation.
Fluid circuits need separate names on the invoice. Engine oil, DCT fluid, brake fluid and coolant are not one shared contamination path, and each has its own product and procedure. A coolant loss calls for leak or cooling-system diagnosis rather than an automatic flush. A brake concern needs inspection even when the brake-fluid replacement date is due. A quote that merely says “all fluids” cannot show what is included or why it is needed.

Inspect brake equipment and wear before replacement
Brake hardware can change with generation, market and options. Mercedes’ launch information for the C118 describes its standard front and rear brake arrangement, while its 2020 model information lists an optional larger system. The parts quotation therefore needs the VIN, axle and fitted brake specification. Do not assume a particular caliper, disc or ceramic system from the CLA45 badge.
Ask for measured pad and disc condition, any wear-sensor finding and the included parts. A front-pad range does not include discs, rear pads or caliper repairs unless the estimate says so. Tyre wear, size and specification also depend on the car and its use rather than an invented replacement mileage.
Brake fluid follows the applicable time-based requirement for the vehicle. It is not a repair for a leak, an abnormal pedal or a red brake warning. Follow the vehicle manual and seek qualified help before driving with a serious brake concern. Hydraulic work and tests belong with a technician using the correct equipment and procedure.

Keep scheduled work separate from new faults
A service visit may coincide with a warning or a change in how the car drives. Keep the two work lists distinct. A check-engine light, reduced power or overheating can involve several possible causes. An oil-service reset is not a diagnosis, and clearing a code cannot establish that a component has been repaired.
| What the owner reports | Useful next action |
|---|---|
| Service message with normal driving | Check the schedule and records, then itemise due operations. |
| Rough running or reduced power | Record conditions and obtain engine-specific diagnosis before parts. |
| Harsh shifts or transmission warning | Identify the gearbox and investigate the complaint separately from due DCT work. |
| Abnormal brake pedal or overheating | Follow the manual, stop safely when indicated and arrange qualified assistance. |
For overheating, do not open a hot pressurised cooling system. A coolant drain and refill cannot solve an unexplained loss or temperature warning. The technician should report the fault findings, repair options and any scheduled operation as separate lines.
Likewise, a turbo or water pump should not be replaced merely because Dubai is hot. A measured fault and vehicle-specific test result must support an expensive repair recommendation. Ask what was observed rather than relying on a dramatic story about another owner’s car.
Check tyres and cabin comfort by condition
Tyres are a separate wear budget. Record the fitted size, load and speed specification, tread condition, age and any damage. Uneven wear can point to inflation, alignment or suspension concerns that need an inspection before a new set is ordered. All-wheel-drive equipment also makes matching tyre specifications important, but the replacement decision follows the actual vehicle and tyre findings rather than a promise that every CLA45 uses up tyres at one mileage.
For weak air conditioning, describe whether airflow is low or the air flows normally but stays warm. A cabin filter or blower concern differs from a cooling or refrigerant fault. Refrigerant is not a routine top-up item at every service. A qualified technician should use the correct equipment to investigate a leak or performance problem before recommending a recharge. Keep this work separate from the engine cooling circuit and from the scheduled maintenance list.
These checks can be noted during a service without turning every observation into an immediate replacement. Ask what was measured, what is safe to monitor and when to reassess it.
Use scoped prices only for work actually due
The MercGarage planning ranges below are the existing site figures reviewed on 29 September 2026. They are AED estimates including 5% VAT for the stated jobs, not a combined annual amount or a guarantee for every CLA45. Confirm the VIN, applicable equipment and dated final quote. A major service may already contain the oil and filter work in a minor service, so do not add both automatically.
| Job | Planning range including VAT | What the line covers |
|---|---|---|
| Minor service | AED 1,500–2,000 | Engine oil, filter and agreed inspection. |
| Major service | AED 3,000–3,800 | Expanded due work with filters, plugs and brake fluid as itemised. Any DCT or driveline task needs an explicit line and may change the total. |
| Scheduled DCT service | AED 1,600–2,200 | Applicable fluid, required filters, seals and labour. Internal repair is excluded. |
| Front brake pads | AED 1,100–1,800 | Compatible pads and fitting. Discs and wear sensors are separate. |
| Engine air filter | AED 300–600 | Compatible filter and fitting with an intact housing. |
The exact parts and labour can vary by generation, brake equipment and what is due. A fluid-and-labour-only DCT task does not represent a complete scheduled service when further filters, seals or procedures are required. If a major quote explicitly includes DCT work, do not add its price again.
Use the table to put a plausible allowance beside a confirmed due item. Measured wear and an unexpected repair remain separate. For a like-for-like comparison of inclusions, exclusions and tax across workshops, see the CLA45 quotation comparison guide. This page’s primary job is deciding what maintenance belongs on the list.
Keep a record for the next service decision
After the visit, keep the invoice with date, mileage, oil approval, parts, fluid products and operations. Ask which work was completed, which is due next by time or distance, and which finding still needs diagnosis. A display reset should agree with the documented work rather than stand in for it.
If additional work is suggested during inspection, ask for the measured or observed reason and a revised payable total before approval. This is particularly important for brake discs, driveline fluids and fault repairs that were not included in an initial service price.
The record makes the following visit faster to plan. It also helps another workshop avoid treating an unknown history as proof that everything is overdue or that every fluid must be flushed.
Common CLA45 maintenance questions for Dubai owners
Do all CLA45 models use the same DCT?
No. Earlier petrol C117 cars use a seven-speed AMG DCT, while the later petrol C118 uses an eight-speed DCT. Confirm the VIN and gearbox before ordering fluid or filters.
Can Dubai heat set one shorter service interval?
No universal shortened mileage follows from climate alone. Use the car’s market-specific maintenance information, service display and records. Inspect condition when heat, dust or use warrants it.
Does a missed oil reset cause limp mode?
The reset records completion of an appropriate service. A reduced-power warning needs diagnosis of its actual cause. Do not infer a fault from the reminder alone.
Are CLA45 brake pads the same across generations?
Do not assume so. Model year, market and optional equipment can change the brake parts. Confirm the VIN and measure wear before quoting pads, discs or sensors.
Must the DCT be flushed at one mileage?
No single flush method or mileage applies to both petrol generations. Check the specified service for the fitted gearbox. Shifting faults need separate diagnosis.
Should I add minor and major service prices?
Usually not. A major package may include the same oil and filter work. Compare the itemised due-work list and only budget each operation once.
