Start with the right component
They perform different jobs and are not interchangeable. A weak main battery can prevent starting. An auxiliary-system warning can appear while the engine still starts normally. Replacing both automatically can add cost without fixing the underlying fault.

A main-battery fault is one possibility. Poor connections, charging problems, or a starter fault can produce similar symptoms. Tell us whether the engine clicks, cranks slowly, or cranks normally without starting.
Send the full message and model year. Arrange prompt inspection and follow the vehicle’s displayed instructions. On applicable X156 vehicles, Mercedes instructs selecting Park before switching off and applying the parking brake before leaving.
This alone does not identify a bad auxiliary battery. Battery charge, cabin temperature, engine temperature, and other operating conditions can prevent automatic stopping. Testing separates normal inhibition from a fault.

A new specification-matched main 12V battery, standard fitting, battery and charging checks, and applicable battery-management setup.
AED 950–1,400A new compatible small auxiliary 12V battery, standard fitting, relevant supply checks, and a warning recheck. A different support module is separate.
AED 450–750An assessment booked on its own, covering initial battery, charging, and relevant fault checks. Extended drain tracing is quoted separately.
AED 150–200Both compatible new 12V batteries, normal fitting, and relevant setup and checks when both units have failed. This range combines the two separate estimates.
AED 1,400–2,150No duplicate basic-check charge. Replacement estimates already include the checks listed above. A separately booked diagnostic appointment is not automatically credited toward later repairs; any credit is recorded on your quote. Wiring, charging-system repairs, recovery, extended drain testing, support modules, and 48V or high-voltage work are extra.

Plan your repair budget
These estimated repair scenarios show different needs for a 2018 GLA250 X156 with the applicable 12V arrangement. They are planning examples, not completed customer jobs. Parts and normal fitting are itemized below, with VAT added once. Fitment is checked before supply.
The main battery fails its condition test while the connections and charging system are sound. The estimate allows for a new compatible main battery, standard installation, applicable setup, and a starting recheck.

This is the small 12V battery option. It does not cover a different support module or repair to damaged wiring.

This scenario allows for shared fitting time. Replacing both is recommended only when both units need it, not simply because they are the same age.
The battery brand, exact specification, product warranty, and appointment time are shown in the vehicle-specific quotation. Different product choices or difficult access can change these estimated totals.
Installation and handover
Correct mounting, secure terminals, applicable vent connections, and the specified installation procedure matter. We follow any vehicle-specific battery-management setup or initialization requirement. Coding is not automatically the same job on every main or auxiliary battery.
After fitting, we check the relevant circuit, starting behavior, and fault status. An ECO stop/start function may remain inactive until its operating conditions are met. Clearing a fault without checking whether it returns is not a completed diagnosis.

Reliable starting after replacement
Tell us if the car mainly makes short journeys or stays parked for long periods. A battery that is repeatedly undercharged needs a different response from one that fails its health test. We can explain suitable charging or storage care for your fitted system.
Battery age alone is not a reliable replacement rule. Heat exposure, driving patterns, and charging history differ between cars, so use condition checks when starting becomes noticeably slower.
Mention recently fitted cameras, alarms, trackers, or electrical work. A consumer that remains active while parked can discharge a replacement battery. Extended drain tracing is a separate service because it can require observation after the vehicle enters sleep mode.
Do not disconnect modules at random or repeatedly clear a warning. Note when the fault happens and let the workshop trace the supply or component responsible.
