Time, distance and actual condition
A service reminder is the starting point
Use the service display, maintenance booklet and past invoices to establish what is due. Service A and B do not mean every filter, fluid and component is replaced at every visit. Additional items follow the schedule for the fitted powertrain and the work already completed.
A GLA250 used for short journeys can accumulate time-based maintenance needs even with low annual mileage. A daily highway commuter may reach distance-based service points sooner. Neither needs an automatic cooling-system overhaul simply for crossing a mileage threshold.
Oil and filters
The oil approval, quantity and filter must suit the engine. Cabin airflow and engine air-filter condition deserve inspection, particularly where dust exposure is high. Cleaning or replacement should follow the component’s requirements.
Fluids and scheduled items
Brake fluid, spark plugs and DCT maintenance are reviewed against the applicable schedule. Coding, sensor calibration and adaptation resets are not routine extras required with every major service.
Wear and leaks
Brakes, tires, joints and mountings are assessed by condition. New vibration, fluid loss or abnormal noise should be investigated before the next scheduled service if it affects operation.
