We inspect the rack and related connections before deciding whether the fault is repairable. Suitable hydraulic rack seal repairs are estimated at AED 1,200–2,200 including removal, refitting and fluid. A compatible reconditioned hydraulic rack fitted is typically AED 2,500–4,000. New or electric rack assemblies require a parts-specific quote.
Whining and heavy steering can involve the pump, fluid supply or another fault. Pump repair estimates are AED 850–1,500 for a repairable unit with removal, refitting and fluid. A replacement pump is quoted separately by part and condition.
Worn linkage can affect steering precision and alignment. An outer tie-rod-end replacement is estimated at AED 350–600 per side for a compatible part and fitting. Inner joints, boots and related damage are additional when required.
An angle-sensor fault, steering-wheel position or relevant warning needs diagnosis before calibration is prescribed. A supported standalone calibration is estimated at AED 250–400. A replacement sensor and additional diagnostic work are separate.
A knock near the dashboard, loose-feeling column or failed reach/rake adjustment needs the column mechanism checked. Mechanical column work is quoted by the affected component, access and whether an assembly is required.
Damaged trim, switches or wheel components need compatible parts. A cosmetic wheel repair is different from a steering-control fault. Tell us whether the issue concerns the finish, a button, adjustment or how the wheel feels.

A Mercedes that pulls left or right needs the cause identified before a rack is ordered. The same complaint can involve a tire, wheel geometry, a worn joint or steering assistance. Tell us whether it happens continuously, only while braking, or after a recent tire or suspension job. Those details help us select the right assessment.
Tire condition and pressure belong in the assessment because they affect how the car feels through the wheel. A steering repair will not correct an unrelated tire problem. If replacement is recommended, the quotation should identify the tire work separately from steering components.
The rack, linkage and related suspension parts need to be considered together. A worn joint or damaged connection should be identified by location, rather than described simply as “front suspension.” We can then discuss the affected part, whether one or both sides need work and what condition has been found.
Where alignment is required, it should follow the relevant mechanical repair. Adjusting wheel geometry while a component has excessive play can leave the underlying problem unresolved. Ask for the alignment requirement and any related electronic setup to be included in the repair plan.
If the change followed another repair, bring the invoice or alignment report if available. We can review what was replaced and explain which checks are relevant now. You do not need to choose between alignment, suspension and steering work before contacting us.

If the car pulls to one side or the steering wheel is off-center, tires, alignment or suspension components may also need attention. Alignment cannot repair a worn joint, and a steering-rack replacement should not be the automatic answer to every pulling complaint.
The steering column links the driver’s controls to the steering system and may include adjustment mechanisms and electrical connections. A click or movement felt near the wheel can require a different repair from a leak or loss of assistance at the rack.
If the wheel will not unlock and the car will not start, describe those symptoms when booking. The electronic steering lock and related starting authorization may need assessment. That does not establish that the mechanical column assembly is damaged.
We quote the affected component and required setup. A replacement wheel, column adjustment motor and complete column assembly are different jobs with different parts. Compatibility matters where controls or safety-related components are involved.
Compare the complete installed repair, not the price of a rack on its own. Two quotations can describe different parts and omit different completion work. The following details help you decide whether repair, a reconditioned unit or a new assembly is the suitable option for your Mercedes.
The quotation should identify the exact rack or repaired assembly and whether it is your original unit, a reconditioned replacement or a new part. “Rack replacement” on its own does not establish the supplied condition. Vehicle compatibility and availability must be confirmed before a unit is ordered.
Tie rods, boots, connections and associated components may be reused if suitable, supplied with the assembly or priced separately. Ask what the proposed unit includes. A cheaper assembly can leave a different set of parts to be purchased and fitted.
The labor to remove and refit the assembly belongs in a fitted quotation. Hydraulic work also needs the appropriate fluid and relevant circuit checks. Additional access work, damaged mounts or unrelated leaks should be identified when they affect the price.
The repair plan should state whether alignment, electronic setup or calibration is required. These are selected for the vehicle and procedure, not added automatically to every steering job. Ask which final checks will confirm the original complaint has been addressed.
Request the coverage and duration that apply to the actual repair and supplied part. If a reconditioned exchange unit requires the old assembly to be returned, confirm that condition and any deposit in the written quote. Do not assume every supplier offers the same terms.
You can bring another quotation for comparison. We can explain the differences in part condition, fitting and completion work so you can make a decision on equivalent scopes. The best-value option is the one that addresses the confirmed fault and includes the work required to put the car back into service.
For a hydraulic repair, the repaired area and fluid circuit need checking for leaks and appropriate operation. For linkage or rack work, wheel alignment may be required. For electronic work, the relevant diagnostic checks and specified adaptations depend on the vehicle and procedure.
We explain the required completion work in the quotation, including alignment or calibration where applicable. These are not interchangeable services: alignment concerns wheel geometry, while an electronic calibration establishes a specified system reference.
A suitable road test follows only when the vehicle is safe to drive. The technician checks the symptom that brought the car in, such as turning effort, noise or steering-wheel position, along with the relevant repaired function.
Stop in a safe place if assistance is lost, the steering becomes difficult to control or the dashboard instructs you to stop. Contact us to discuss recovery. Do not continue a journey simply to see whether a serious steering problem clears itself.

That depends on the fault, wear, damage and available compatible parts. A suitable hydraulic rack may be repairable. A damaged housing, unsuitable previous repair or some electric rack faults may require replacement. We explain the options after checking it.
No. Hydraulic systems use fluid, while electric power steering does not use a conventional hydraulic assist circuit. The workshop identifies the fitted system before recommending fluid service or repair.
Only when your quotation lists them as included. Some repairs require alignment, electronic calibration or both; others do not. The planning ranges above identify the core repair so those requirements can be shown clearly.
